Overview

Nestled in the heart of Sevilla’s historic Casco Antiguo, Restaurante Doña Rufina offers a culinary journey steeped in authentic Andalusian flavors with a contemporary twist. Located on C. Mateos Gago, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral, this vibrant eatery captivates visitors with its charming ambiance and scenic street and rooftop dining options, making it a perfect setting for both locals and travelers seeking a genuine Sevillian experience.

The menu shines with regional highlights, notably the expertly crafted Iberian Meat Rice—a hearty dish that masterfully balances rich, savory notes with tender cuts of Iberian pork. For those drawn to fresh seafood, the Tuna Tataki and Tratamiento de Atun showcase a delicate play of textures and flavors, reflecting the region’s maritime heritage. Other standout choices include the robust Solomillo and the comforting Pollo a la Mostaza, which pairs succulent chicken with a slightly tangy mustard sauce.

Tapas lovers find plenty to delight in—from crispy Oxtail Croquettes to expertly prepared Alcachofas and even inventive options like Hummus with Stew. These small plates are crafted to be shared, fostering a communal dining atmosphere that complements the warm, inviting staff service. The bar area, particularly the rooftop, elevates the experience further, offering local favorites such as Tinto de Verano and a selection of sangrias, perfect for unwinding under Sevilla’s sunny sky.

Customer testimonies paint a vivid picture of varied experiences. While most praise the personable and attentive service—highlighting staff members who go the extra mile—the occasional lapse in attention has been noted, reminding potential guests that like many beloved neighborhood institutions, there is room for refinement. Nonetheless, the overall consensus underscores a delightful blend of flavorful cuisine and authentic atmosphere that enchants visitors.

Whether you arrive craving a leisurely lunch after a city tour or an evening sipping cocktails with panoramic views, Restaurante Doña Rufina appeals to those who value both quality and setting. Its location within Sevilla’s UNESCO-listed old town adds cultural depth to each visit, making it more than just a meal but a genuine taste of Andalusian life.

Food was great, the service wasn’t. I needed to remind them twice to bring us a second glass - there were two of us and they gave us only one glass. Then we didn’t get any spoon with paella, again, I had to ask for that. And then we didn’t receive two tapas and I also had to ask about that. Not what I expect from a good restaurant.

This was my first meal in Seville, and it couldn’t have set the mood better. Service was great. The place has that unmistakable Sevillian charm, with a view straight down the street leading to the cathedral. A lovely way to ease into the city.

Such a lovely experience here. We meant to come in for paella but we started with the tapas and couldn’t stop ordering more tapas. Everything was 10/10. We just wish we had tummy room for the paella. Maria, Alfonso, and Paco went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The service was impeccable, they were super friendly and even recommended some places for us to visit in Sevilla. Food was delicious, service fast, drinks great, highly recommend.

We stopped here for lunch after a tour and were very impressed. The food was delicious and our waiter was kind and friendly. You do have the option to eat in the street, inside the restaurant, or the rooftop. We choose the street. They have plenty of umbrellas for shade. The paella was amazing and the croquetas were delicious also. We would definitely recommend this place. It's an easy walk right up from the cathedral.
